Bad Busy Blogger!

I have a confession...I'm a very busy, very bad Blogger. I have been lazy and instead of blogging I have bee posting sessions only to my facebook site. Shameful! I'm bowing my head in embarrassment. It has been a busy couple months! Lots of sessions. Some previews were posted and some were private. Go check them out on my facebook page and I will pledge to try much better here!

I do have unfortunate news. I am having surgery on my ankle on January 11th. I will not be taking any sessions in January and February. I hope to be able to schedule clients again mid March.

I appreciate all of your business and hope you'll be patient with me. I'll have a couple months to plan a big Re-Opening just in time for the Spring! For those with newborns that won't wait. Give me a call and I might be able to work something out in an earlier time frame.

Merry Christmas to all and a Happy New year!

H Family Maternity Shoot

When I got a call from the H family a couple weeks ago I was giddy with excitement about their shoot. As I was anticipating my baby's 1st birthday the idea of a maternity shoot was delightful! Plus 2 boys about the same age as my son confirmed it would be a ton of fun too! I was so right! God truly blessed us with a perfect Nashville fall day which if you live here you know has been far and few between lately! We traveled to Pinkerton Park in Franklin, TN for some outdoor shots. If you haven't had a chance to visit this park and live near Franklin you have to go! It was awesome! Once you see these pictures you will know that this family is in trouble because there is no question that baby girl is going to be a knock out!

Here is some of my favorite shots. Thank you so much for sharing this special time with me!

Our Little Cupcake turns 1!

I can't believe it! The year has gone so fast. My favorite little model Miss. E turned 1 years old. We did a quick mini-session last week with hopes of some outside photos once the rain finally stops here in Nashville. Happy Birthday baby girl!

Celebration of Fall

The crisp air of fall is settling in here in Tennessee. What a great time for pictures! Lots of warm colors and special activities. To celebrate fall we took a group to the Apple Orchards for some fun picking. Of course there was tons of picture taking. What is your favorite thing to do in the fall?

Two New Programs to Help Tight Budgets

Mothers have an amazing ability to become very thrifty when necessary. Quickly we learn how to stretch the grocery budget with coupons. We buy clothes a season in advance for our kids to take advantage of the current clearance prices. Consignment and hand-me downs circulate our neighborhoods. And we share our pride in not how much something cost but how little! These savings often allow us to splurge on special things like pictures of our kids but in today’s economy it is hard sometimes to not save the money instead of splurging. I understand! I want to make you not feel guilty for what you are spending to capture your precious memories and so I am excited to announce two new programs.

Introducing money saving Mini-Sessions

These sessions will be 20 minutes in length and include a CD of up to 10 High resolution pictures that you can print yourself. Sessions will be for up to 3 people ($5 each additional). Due to timing no outfit changes will be included and travel will be limited. Prints will be available for an additional cost if requested. The cost is only $75.

Also premiering is my new Referral Program!

If you refer someone to me for a photo session, upon completion you will receive a choice of $20 off or a free 8x10 at your next session. This discount will be good for 12 months from the month that it is earned.

There you have it 2 new ways to save money on your family’s portraits!
If you are in the Mount Juliet/Lebanon area come out to Spence Creek Tonight for Spence Creek Shops between 7 - 9 at the Clubhouse. Special offers will be avaliable for those that book their sessions at my table tonight only!
It is time to start thinking about your family Christmas card pictures! Give me a call or send me an email to get on my calendar today!

Things I Love

When you have children your entire perspective on life changes. You see your kids every day and they transform into little people without you even realizing it. With my first the excitement of her learning new things and achieving the next milestone caused us to always be looking ahead. Then when the second came along my daughter immediately changed from the baby to the big kid even when she was truly still so small. My son I was so busy adjusting to life with two and making it work I tended to clump them together and he too seemed to rush through infancy. When I had my third child I was so determined to not rush her. The irony is she was determined to rush me! As we begin to approach her first birthday she is walking around doing her best to keep up with her siblings. I have thousands (and that is no exaggeration) of pictures of each of my kids and yet I still feel like I'm missing something. I want to bottle every moment and hold it. You know what I'm guilty of the most? I take tons of pictures but they remain hidden on my computer for often months at a time. Recently I have been making an effort to change that but what do you do when you run out of wall space, table space, any space? Thank heavens for technology. Watching a design show on TV this past weekend I saw them take down the pictures from cluttered walls and buy several digital photo frames.

I love digital frames. I have bought them for gifts for people for years but I have never invested in one myself! I'm adding a couple to my Christmas list for sure. Great idea right?

I want to help you also enjoy those pictures everyday so I am adding a bonus to all photo sessions till the end of the year. With any photo prints order I will include a low resolution CD with all the proofs from your session. So give me a call and schedule a session soon!!

Jumping in!

Is it wrong to say that I am scared to death? I am but I'm jumping in anyways. For a long time people have been telling me to start my own business. They have encouraged me, prodded me and pushed a little so I guess to say I'm jumping in is a bit of an exaggeration but hey it's my perception right?

Here goes....Welcome to Heather Dawn Photography located in the Lebanon/ Mount Juliet area of Tennessee. This blog will be a way to me to share my journey as I do what I love and take pictures. I have always said I didn't have a passion. I had lots of things I loved to do but nothing I felt passionate about until I got my first DSLR Camera. From there my passion has bubbled up and overflown out of me. I love to capture what I call the "everydays" that we often overlook till it is too late. Everydays is the screaming baby that at the time you want to hide from until you look back and you can't remember the last time you saw the adorable scrunched up face. The favorite toy that a child can never be without until one day it is gone. I want to capture those moments for you. From birth till holding your grandchildren I hope to give people rememberances that they will treasure forever and will tell their story for generations to come.

Interested in a shoot send me a message! In the mean time check out my new site www.Heatherdawnphotos.com
